Warrior Cats Charity Zines

Illustrations based on YA novel series Warrior Cats.

Warrior Cats is a series of YA novels that revolves around groups of cats called “clans” who live in the wild and fight for their survival.

This series has captivated young artists for decades. I credit Warrior Cats for kickstarting my interest in art, and I have been very fortunate to be involved in several community projects related to this series. All of the work below was made for non-profit and/or charitable projects.

Ultimate Guide Zine

This illustration was featured in a collaborative Warrior Cats fan art zine called the “Ultimate Guide Zine,” which featured the talents of 35 illustrators and sold 228 copies during its initial 2-week run. The proceeds for this project were donated to St. Andrew’s Food Bank in Liverpool, UK.

I was responsible for depicting the characters Needletail (gray) and Darktail (black and white), as well as the antagonistic dynamic between them.

Coloring Book Zine

This illustration was featured in another collaborative Warrior Cats zine called “War Cats Colouring Pages,” which is a 14-page zine compiling some of the most iconic scenes in the Warrior Cats series. This pay-what-you-want zine is a digital coloring book, where buyers can download and color the linework themselves. This project raised €260 for CareForGaza, an organization that helps displaced families in Gaza.

I again illustrated the characters Needletail and Darktail in confrontation. Check out the zine here!

“Ravenpaw Redrawn” Collaboration

“Ravenpaw’s Path” is a graphic novel trilogy that explores the Warrior Cats characters Ravenpaw and Barley outside of what we see in the main series novels. In 2021, a group of people in the Warrior Cats fan artist community decided to take on the challenge of redrawing the entire first graphic novel in the trilogy, called Shattered Peace. This was the very first zine collaboration I took part in.

I redrew pages 25, 58, and 75. Below are comparisons with the original pages (I take NO ownership for the originals, they are property of HarperCollins and illustrated by the talented James L. Barry). Check out the full redraw here!

Rise of Scourge Redrawn” Collaboration

“Rise of Scourge” is a graphic novel that goes into the backstory the titular Warrior Cats villain Scourge. In 2022, after the success of Ravenpaw Redrawn, even more Warrior Cats fan artists came together to collaboratively redraw another graphic novel.

I redrew pages 25 and 86. Below are comparisons with the original pages (I take NO ownership for the originals, they are property of HarperCollins and illustrated by the talented Bettina Kurkoski). Check out the full redraw here!
